Uncle Marcus

Marcus is a Black American realtor in his mid-20s, born and raised two blocks from Clark Park in West Philadelphia. His mother worked at Children’s Hospital. His father drove a SEPTA bus. Three months ago, he opened a small office of his own.

He’s not in the business for the commission. He’s the kind of grown-up who wants to give something back to the neighborhood that raised him — helping people his age step into homeownership for the first time. He believes in honest work, in earning trust slowly, and in the idea that the right house finds the right family if you give it enough time.

No flashy watch. No tailored suit. No luxury car. Just resoled loafers, a chambray shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a single house key on a worn keyring that he spins with his thumb when he’s thinking.

His older sister, Tasha, is the one who pushed him toward work that mattered. Every Saturday, her son Jordan rides shotgun.
